2017 in Review

2017 saw us renaming the main gallery, changing from the Dylan Ellis Gallery to the Connections Gallery. This name change reflects our mandate to “connect” artists, curators and gallerists.

Thank you to all of the photographers who showed such an amazing variety of images.

Emergence

The Connections Gallery is seeking submissions for our annual Emergence photography group show in December 2017. This nine person group show showcases artists who are new to the gallery or have new work.

Four artists will be chosen by a jury to exhibit their work in Montreal in Spring 2018.

This show will also be advertised in the Winter issue of Canadian Art.

As a rental gallery, we promote photographers in various stages of their careers with the hope that are able to successfully meet their goals. No commission is taken on sales.

As an artist and researcher of life, I make connections – searching for common threads and a better understanding of myself, and the world around me. Collage is an entry point for creative growth and discovery.

What began as a reflexive need for self-expression has developed into a complex roadmap for navigating my personal belief system, identity, and visual ideology.

For over twenty years, I’ve been driven by the never-ending question of what makes us similar rather than different. I locate myself in pop culture, ethnic imagery, iconography, kitsch, hi-art and lowbrow, found objects, and street art. Using cut and paste, I explore the human condition and the creative process.

This quintet offers insight into my ever-evolving topography.
