Intersection brings together two photographers from Quebec and two from Ontario. This show is the culmination of our relationship with galleries and artists in Quebec. It is one of many shows to come that involve bringing artists from other cities, expanding our network as well as that of those involved.

Atoll: The Sky Above, Lagoon Below
Where are you from and what attracts you to colour?
I grew up in Washington D.C. For me Washington wasn’t so much a city of monuments as a cluster of villages surrounded by forests and streams. Living with my divorced mother as a rebellious teenager, I often drifted into Glover Archbold Park, a sliver of green that stretches north-south more than two miles from Cathedral Heights to the Potomac River. The city’s woods offered secluded hollows of serenity, a powerful salve in my life at that time.

Where are you from and who or what are your influences
I was born in St-Roch-de-l’Achigan (Quebec), a small agricultural village where I continue to live and work.
Since being introduced to the photo lab at university, I have always enjoyed work in the darkroom. Having my own installation since the 1980s, I have taken advantage of the arrival of digital, acquiring large-format enlargers that have fallen into disuse.
