For his first exhibition as part of Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival, St John’s based artist Will Gill travelled to wildfire locations in Canada to capture the aftermath of the events. Through staged photography, using props and the charred remains of the environment as backdrop, Gill explores aspects of darkness and hope, transcendence and the human condition.
Intersection brings together two photographers from Quebec and two from Ontario. This show is the culmination of our relationship with galleries and artists in Quebec. It is one of many shows to come that involve bringing artists from other cities, expanding our network as well as that of those involved.

Intersection is a four-person photographic exhibition with two artists from Ontario and two from Quebec. This bringing together of artists from the two provinces aims to expose each artist to a new photographic community.

Bob Carnie’s exhibition, Tribute to Sabattier is an ongoing printing project years in the making.
This show is on from August 4th to September 16 with an opening reception on August 20th
Who or what is Sabattier
Sabattier was a French photographer who in 1862 accidentally turned on the light while developing and got some strange and unpredictable effects. This effect can be tamed with bursts of controlled timed light to a piece of film or photographic paper during development.
